Airalzh's first 10 years and World Alzheimer's Day

This year, for Airalzh Onlus (Italian Association for Alzheimer's Research), the month of September had a different "flavor." In addition to the celebration of World Alzheimer's Day, the first decade of the medical-scientific activity of the Association of Barberino di Mugello was commemorated. For the occasion, a Press Conference was organized at the Ministry of Health in Rome, entitled "Airalzh: the first 10 years of studies, commitment, and research towards 'A tomorrow without Alzheimer's'."

During the event, an important awareness campaign was presented, with the hope that the population will become more aware of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle: engaging in physical activity, following a proper diet and having good sleep quality are measures to adopt for prevention. This campaign aims to offer "informative notebooks" – downloadable from the mini-site https://prevenzione.airalzh.it/ – written in a simple, immediate way and addressed to all citizens on healthy lifestyles for the prevention of dementia.

At the same time, the results of a survey, conducted on behalf of Airalzh Onlus, on the perception of Alzheimer's disease in the Italian population and on the interest in receiving information about the possibilities of prevention and treatment, were presented. It emerged that 1 in 2 Italians is worried about contracting Alzheimer's disease in the future. Furthermore, only 1 in 10 declares themselves to be very informed about the disease.

Airalzh also spoke about the activities carried out by the Association in these first 10 years, emphasizing the results of research on the pathology and on early diagnosis. On this latter topic, an afternoon meeting was held in which various Airalzh Researchers were able to describe their respective Research Projects through oral and poster presentations.
