Change at the top of the Italian Society of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health (SItI). The new Executive Board, elected last December for the period 2023-2026, appointed as the new President of the scientific society, Prof. Roberta Siliquini. Full Professor of Hygiene at the University of Turin, she takes over from Dr. Antonio Ferro, who led the SItI for the period 2021-2022, becoming the first female President of a Scientific Society that is experiencing a moment of great historical importance and offering a substantial contribution to the Country. Dr. Enrico Di Rosa, Director of the Hygiene and Public Health Service of ASL Roma 1, will instead assume the role of Vice President, while Prof. Walter Mazzucco, Associate Professor of Hygiene at the University of Palermo, is the new Secretary General. "I would like to thank Dr. Antonio Ferro for his excellent work over the past two years, but also all the members of the Executive Board for the trust placed in me," said Prof. Roberta Siliquini - The goals that we set ourselves in these 'post-pandemic' years are, first and foremost, to promote scientific and cultural Progress in the field of Hygiene, Public Health and the organization of Health Services as well as to support the Institutions in the choice and application of the best Public Health strategies aimed at the welfare of the population, also from a 'One Health' perspective." Full professor of Hygiene at the University of Turin since 2006, author of more than 400 scientific publications, Roberta Siliquini was the first woman President of the Consiglio Superiore di Sanità (2014-2018) and has been a member of the National Committee for Biosafety, Biotechnology and Life Sciences at the Prime Minister's Office since 2016. Prof. Siliquini's scientific interest has always been in the application of hygiene disciplines. In recent years, her research activity has been directed toward an in-depth study of the role of technologies - health and non-health - with a strong impact on health, but she has also addressed new issues related to health communication via the web, with particular reference to the modification of health habits, the choice of therapeutic paths and the potential of the online tool.
