Oknoplast windows selected for a bio architectural project

Client: Oknoplast

Near Monopoli, in Puglia, there is a house ZNEB, acronym of Nearly Zero Energy Building, a term that defines a building whose energy consumption is almost zero, minimizing the harmful impact on the environment.

Designed by Studio NGARCHITETTI of Monopoli, the private home - one of the few ZNEB in Italy - responds to the strong desire of the same designers and owners to create a place full of meaning, of pure surfaces and volumes that contained their life and that of their children like a treasure chest.
The strong ecological sensitivity of the architects has favored brightness and natural ventilation through the choice of panoramic windows HST and Prolux Evolution of Oknoplast, positioned according to bioclimatic guidelines; overhangs and pergolas are used for summer shading and designed to allow the entry of sunlight during the winter months, when the sun is lower on the horizon.
The roof of the first floor is pitched one and features photovoltaic panels and two solar thermal panels for the production of domestic hot water. Heating, cooling and hot water production are entrusted to a single electric heat pump, which works for three months a year free of charge thanks to the energy of the sun. The gas was not wanted by the owners: induction was chosen for the kitchen hob, thus exploiting clean energy.

Coming to the choice of fixtures, fundamental to the success of a project of bio-architecture, the architects have privileged the lift slides HST and Prolux Evolution of Oknoplast PVC, with triple glass and white finish, because of their technical characteristics that have allowed to reach the energy class A4, exceeding the minimum threshold to achieve the title of Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB).

The choice of the HST system is obvious - available with 2 or 4 doors and up to 6 meters of width - whose sliding opening is smooth and silent; and Prolux Evolution, which guarantees a brightness up to 22% higher than a traditional PVC window.
